Ninety days sounds aggressive. Most agencies quote six to nine months for a production SaaS product. But after shipping 13 products across healthcare, legal-tech, and B2B SaaS, we have learned that speed is almost always a scoping problem, not a technical one.
Why Most MVPs Miss the 90-Day Window
The biggest killers we see in discovery calls are almost never technical. They are scope creep dressed up as features. Founders confuse "must have for launch" with "must have eventually." The result: a 90-day project becomes a 9-month project before a single line of code is written.

The 90-Day Framework
Days 1-14: Discovery and Architecture
We spend two weeks before writing production code. This sounds counterintuitive, but it is the highest-leverage investment in the project. We produce three outputs:
- User story map -- every feature written from the user's perspective, prioritised into three tiers: launch, month two, roadmap.
- Data model -- the schema that will either accelerate or constrain every feature that follows.
- Integration map -- every third-party API, auth provider, and AI service identified upfront. Surprise integrations in week eight are a schedule killer.
Days 15-60: Core Build
Six weeks of focused development on tier-one features only. Our stack for most MVPs in 2026:
- Frontend: Next.js 15 with App Router
- Backend/API: Supabase (auth + database + storage) or PlanetScale
- AI layer: Claude API or OpenAI, with LangChain for orchestration when multi-step chains are needed
- Payments: Stripe Billing with usage-based metering where applicable
- Deployment: Vercel + Railway
AI-assisted development is real. We use Cursor for ambient code generation, Claude for architecture review and test generation, and GitHub Copilot for boilerplate. This roughly triples the output of a single developer on repetitive tasks.
Days 61-75: Integration and Polish
We freeze new feature development at day 60 -- hard. Days 61-75 are for integrating all pieces, fixing edge cases surfaced by internal testing, and performance profiling. The product needs to feel finished, not just function correctly.
Days 76-90: Beta and Launch
We onboard five to ten beta users. Real users on real data find problems that no amount of internal testing surfaces. We fix only launch-blocking bugs. Non-critical issues go straight to the backlog.
What AI Actually Changes
AI-assisted development does not change what you build. It changes how fast you reach a decision. The biggest time-savers we have found:
- Schema generation: Describe the product in plain English, generate a first-draft database schema in minutes instead of hours.
- Test coverage: Claude generates integration test cases from spec documents. Developers write the assertions; AI writes the scaffolding.
- Documentation: API docs and onboarding copy generated from code, reviewed by a human. Eliminates a week of post-launch catch-up.
- Code review: AI flags security issues and performance anti-patterns before human review. Fewer rounds, faster merges.
The One Thing Founders Get Wrong
Speed requires trust. The founders who get the fastest results are the ones who make decisions in 24 hours, not 5 days. Every delayed decision pushes a dependency downstream. In a 90-day sprint, one week of indecision is a 2% schedule slip that compounds.
Build fast. Ship early. Iterate on real data. The market will teach you more in two weeks of beta than six months of internal planning.
